The Editorial Board of Annals of Gastroenterology is pleased to announce the winner of the annual award for the best original paper appearing in the Journal during 2011. The prize committee chose the article:Fulminant liver failure model with hepatic encephalopathy in the mouse by Tomohide Hori, Feng Chen, Ann-Marie T. Baine, Lindsay B. Gardner and Justin H. Nguyen

The prize of 600 euros is awarded yearly by a committee from members of the Journal’s International Advisory Board for the best original paper that appeared in the Journal in the previous year.
